Baltimore County Police lost an officer this week, I can't remember the exact details right now, its been a long week. I believe it was Wednesday morning though. Officer Jason Schneider was in the BCPD Tactical Team and were serving a high risk warrant on a house in reference to a shooting. Officer Schneider was assisting in room by room sweeps of the house when he encountered an armed subject in the bedroom. The suspect fired on Officer Schnieder hitting him multiple times in the vest, but 1 round missed the vest and was fatal. Officer Schneider was able to return fire and the suspect died of his injuries the next morning.
The original target at the house fled. Officer Schneider's killer was not wanted and not a suspect. Officer Schneider was 36 years old and a married father of 2. He was a 13 year veteran of the department.
God rest his soul. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his fellow officers. Officer Schneider will be honored Saturday morning in Carroll County, MD.
