I'd call it a fail. Federal 14 with LED panels added.

I think it would be neat if a beacon like that could be re-engineered to have all LEDs like the new MSP beacon but instead of flashing it would have a steady burn pattern and the motor chassis itself would rotate. :undecided:

WOW, if he wanted to sell it better he should have set it up in a dark room and shot the video a little less OFF angle. You could not even tell the LEDS were illuminated.

I think if you used something a little more than crap LED panels, that mod might work and be moderately effective, say a 500 series Whelen module.

I agree with the previous posts. Very cool concept, but badly executed. I was imagining the MSP eventually returning to rotating beacons using a concept similar to that seen in the new FS Vision SLR pods. One large rotator reflecting LEDs planted in the bottom of the base facing upward.

Too bad this didn't do what you wanted. It seems like a good idea. Somewhere on the net, I found a rotating beacon using leds. The leds were bottom mounted, directed upwards at a revolving reflector. I believe that it was from Japan or Taiwan. The Tokyo Siren Co, Kyoto Industries, and Patlite all made incandescent or halogen beacons that worked this way, much like a Federal 27 industrial beacon.

OK so here is my stupid Idea, replace the halogen bulbs with a par led bulbs set or steady burn, wouldn't that achieve the same thing? A revolving light with the illumination of led, as for why??? You get the old school look with the illumination and efficiency of led at a cheaper coast than todays led lights.

That's been done too, but LED's generally do not give that "pop" flash like a sealed beam spot lamp.
