Interesting question.....a bunch of guys who ride motorcycles and contribute to an online forumhave remarked about how effective these LED lights are when used as a brake light, compared to Hyperlites or other motorcycle products. A new thread has started about trying to come up with a dimmer for night use.

My question, will it work? It seems to me if you drop the voltage the entire unit will shut down, and not just dim and continue to flash.

Comments??

Whelen sells a TIR3 designed for this application (brake/stop/tail). as to adding a special dim flasher i think it would void the warranty if the voltage gets adjusted.

They can be dimmed. I had 4 lin3's on my last bike, all steady burned and connected to a ULF44. When the dimmer was used the lights would keep flashing the pattern but at reduced intensity. I had two round tir6 also on that bike, they would stop working when the dimmer was used.

I don't know how the ULF dims it's outputs, whether its a simple resisor or PWM or something else, but it is possible.
