Does the secondary power wire (not the 2 8g leads) need to be connected to an ignition powered source? Or can it be put on battery power? The reason being I don't think the car that it is going in has any open 20amp ports that I can connect it to.

The big 8ga. leads provide power to the relays for the big outputs. The other 20A lead is "system power" - it powers all of the computer stuff, plus the siren amplifiers. If you take it straight to battery, the Cencom will always be on.

Anyone know where I can get the most recent cencom gold software? I can't find it online anywhere. I've got version 4 but it isn't compatible Windows 7.

Call Whelen's customer service.

I did last week, and had the disc in hand two days later, FREE!

That's why I only buy Whelen products, Great customer service.

Hmm, I did call them and the guy said it was available on the website... Which obviously it isn't, only the Sapphire software is. I'll have to try calling them again. The guy I got was kind of grouchy and probably just wanted to get me off the phone.

Did you ever get the gold software?
