Cobra ILB Flashback

I have a Cobra ILB specific for the 2007-2013 Silverado.  I love it, but I still have some significant flashback with it, it tolerable, but still an issue.  There is significant gaps between the windshield and the bar and not as tight against the windshield as I'd like it.  I have tried adjusting and bending the angle of the brackets and can't seem to get rid of it.  Every time I tighten the bracket, it pushes the bar away from the windshield even with the adjusted angle of the brackets.  The only thing that may work it taking the angle of the bracket to an extreme and make it really shallow, but I shouldn't have to make that extreme of an adjustment right out of the box.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Shouldn't have to doing ANY bending. Typically that leads to other issues with fit.

That version bar works fairly well with those vehicles.  That said, there is some issues with making sure its properly seated right. If not properly seated it throws it off some.  We have gaskets that cut down on the flash back by attaching to the end of the cobra interior bar. That said, I've rarely sold any because typically the fit works well on the vehicle specific bars.

Strange, right out of the box it was leaving large gaps.  I have some EDM foam(I think that's what it's called), but the gap is too big and I'd have to probably put 2 strips tall to remove the flashback.  The brackets are correct and fit as expected, just appear to be at the wrong angle or something.  The frame, when holding it by hand against the windshield seems to fit very well with the windshield and the contours of the headliner.  Almost like the brackets can't hold the bar or something. When using the brackets only, the weight of the bar appear to move it away from the windshield. And then I go to tighten the brackets, the bottom of the bar moves away from the window again.  I'm not over tightening them either.   Maybe I installed it wrong the first time and caused my own problems?

The awkward thing about that model is that it has to sit JUST right under the visor or it throws it out of whack and your first instinct is to bend a bracket which leads to issues. I've installed several of these models (three different ones in our demo unit alone) I made that mistake once and learned from it. With a little play though you should be able to get it back close again.

frustration levels with interior bars go through the roof. Sometimes its like dealing with a crying baby and you gotta realize its time to just walk away and let it cry for a few.

So I looked again, it's not as far away as I thought.  I should be able to put a strip of the foam along the edge and that eleminate the flash back.  Originally when I first installed it, it had a huge gap.   I forgot I adjusted it and got the gap much smaller.

I had the same issue with my Pegasus, except I got mine after they discontinued the vehicle specific bracket so I was left with the universal. I ended up getting a sheet of 1/16" foam from Ac Moore (the arts and craft store) along with some industrial double sided tape cut out about a 1.5" wide strip that matched the curve of the bar and slapped it on...

I have ZERO flash back, I can't even tell that it's on, it's absolutely amazing. I would highly suggest doing the same image.jpegimage.jpeg

That looks really good. You did a really good job on that. I think if I put in the foam strip I've got now, I'll be ok. The way I had it before, I'm pretty sure I initially installed it wrong.

I wish my bar went from the center across the whole top. Mine sits centered

I agree, even though mine is a spit bar, I wish it had another set of lights too. But from the looks of my bar, another set of T6's wouldn't fit in mine. But T3's sure would!

Does anyone know if you can buy vehicle specific brackets to go on a universal cobra interior bar? I can never seem to get the universal brackets to work....
