can anyone run me through on how to conduct a proper continuity test on coaxial cable and mobile Radio antenna using multimeter believe I know but want to verify have to rule out cable and antenna as being the problem for this radio thank you

positive on shield, negative on tip.. (or vice versa) if it beeps you got a problem check on both ends..

you wouldnt try to do a conductance on the antenna itself because it is a dc short.

maybe you want to check the nmo or whatever its mounted to

1 D/C the antenna connector from the radio.
2 Center pin of connector to antenna whip should have continuity.
3 Shell of connector to body ground should have continuity.
4 Center pin to shell should not have cont.

The above will rule out an open or short. More precise testing will require an SWR meter.

Once you've followed MtnMan's steps, then I'd suggest using a forward and reflected power meter. Something like a Bird 43 would be reasonable.
