Do LAPD still use vehicles from the 2000s?

Anyone from LA or know a lot about the area, do you know if any patrol vehicles from the late 90s to early 2000s are still in service? Here are some videos and a photo showing some of them. Also are the vehicles in said videos still in service?

I could not get a good still photo of a Crown Victoria similar to the one in the video.

Watching Live PD, I have seen some CA agencies still using CVPI’s. I am just not well versed in telling of the years, but to me looks the same as the CVPI in your posting.

Regarding LAPD using CVPI s, I'll keep my eyes peeled. Wouldn't be surprised if they have several in there fleet, marked, unmarked, marked slick tops. I have seen Tahoe's in service with what appears to be bomb squad, usually with mini lightbars.
LA County Sheriff's are definitely still using CVPI's, as I saw one just this morning. They are also definitely still using Tahoe's as well.

I actually live near San Francisco and I saw an E series sheriff with an old Edge 9000. Probably 1997 I’m guessing. San Francisco uses a lot of old cars still.

Thanks for looking out. I noticed the older ones with halogens only use Unitrols. Never heard any Smart Sirens. I heard LAPD is using a GMC Yukon too.

Spotted an LAPD marked slick top CVPI with two uniform officers today in downtown. Also saw live news this morning in south central LA, unmarked CVPI with plain clothes next to a few marked Explorers. Sorry, no chance to get photos.

As of at least Summer of 2019 LAPD still has CVPIs in service.
I typically am in LA around 4th of July for a convention and several sporting MX's are still used.

Does that depend on what division they are out of as to who still has them and older bars on them?

How could you tell it was so hard for me to see in that video, reminded me of a federal signal unit coming down the road based on what I saw of the side tops of the bar.

Just this morning in East Los Angeles. Will keep looking. LA County Sheriff's detective stopped by last week in an unmarked CVPI.

Gotta remember its CA. When you don't have to deal with a lot of rain, snow, salt, brine, etc, your stuff lasts longer and doesnt have the risk of "rotting away". If they take care of them, theres no reason why cars from the early 2000's shouldnt still be able to be in service.

You have a point. But I know for a fact these vehicles have incredibly high mileage. Usually they retire them when they hit 130-150k miles.

That may be now, my now destroyed california unit came to me at 45000 miles on it, if it wasn't for the accident with the guy trying to kill me it would still be on the road today.IMG_20190419_060151.jpg

My photos from a 2018 tour of an LAPD post. The one with the chrome trim is a 1998.

Trying to find the article on one of my police forums....CHP recently retired their very last Vic. They did a good write up on it.

It has been my observation that LAPD uses whatever still runs and hasn't become a maintenance headache. I can remember 1997 Crown Victorias still operating in 2008, so don't be surprised what you see in Los Angeles.

It's all about the budget, baby.

Parker, Colorado PD here just retired their last Vic I believe recently. L.A.W.S. has been upfitting all their new vehicles and doing a damn fine job. I saw a Denver PD Vic a month or so back out of District 5, obviously a spare. Denver PD now has a bunch of the 1st Gen Exploder/Utes as spares. Good grief, what did Ford do with the paint for those later years VICs!? Every one I have seen in white has had serious flaking issues. Shame on Ford for being so cheap.

They changed something after 2004 all the white crowns had paint issues, something to do with the primer I think cause I got one off a 05 had to repaint and we couldn't get it to stick. My black 04 didn't have those issues.
