Just heard that there is a 2 alarm fire in Evanston Il with a mayday from firefighters, anyone heard anything? I hope that it is not correct information.

Evanston Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 1800 hundred block of Laurel around 5 AM this morning. The fire impacted all homes and rear garages. No one was home at any of the houses and it is unclear if any of the houses were vacant. One EFD Firefighter was taken to the hospital with trouble breathing. He is in good condition. Fire units from all over area responded to assist at scene and cover firehouses as many EPD units were at scene. Cause of the fire unknown at this time. The fire scene is being cleared as of 7:30 AM
Thank god nothing serious. Today is not the day for anything like that. Still had to be scary as hell for the family to hear.

The entire block burned? No one was home at any of the houses in the area? Thats a bit of good luck in the safety factor for the homeowners, but i'm curious to know how/who started it...

Evanston is an older dense town. Where that fire happened the houses are like the row houses in Chicago and the close urban towns.

Ended up being a few went to the hospital but all were released with no problems. Fire started in a garage and then communicated from there. One house was vacant, one was out visiting family and one was home that lost his garage.
