Anyone have opinions on auto extrication software? I know Hurst has a crash program which allows you to pick apart vehicles and the various things to look for when cutting a car. Holmatro also offers some type of software.

Anyone have experience or opinions on this?

Thanks,

I got the chance to demo both units a couple of years ago when we were looking into these systems. Hands down, the Hurst (Moditch) is a much more user friendly version. My big problem with the Holmatro system is that it is essentially an encyclopedia on cd. There is little interaction with the program

The Hurst system, on the other hand, immediately brings up a CAD diagram of the vehicle, with all the hazards that you can click on to give you warnings. It is very simply laid out. I believe that you can also hook a wireless barcode scanner to it and scan the VIN number of the vehicle in question, bringing up the exact make/model/year without having to go through the menus.

Either program has a wealth of knowledge, and both work well, but I think the Hurst setup is much easier to get the information from.

We have the Hurst Crash Recovery program installed in all of our rescue trucks. It is by far the best program on the market. The updates come out often and I have yet to find a vehicle that is not covered.

The initial cost was around $600 then $99 for each additional license. We have it running on Panasonic CF-18 Toughbooks w/ Ram-Mount docking stations.

The touch screen setup makes it easy to use even when you have fire or extrication gloves on.

We use Hurst, and it is the best! I also own a Hurst Oldsmobile so i have to be a little brand loyal too! Hehehe!
