FDNY officials have confirmed that Lt Gordon Ambelas(40),of L-119, a 14 year veteran, has given the Ultimate Sacrifice. Lt Ambelas died after working a 2nd Alarm fire at 75 Wilson St. A mayday was transmitted during the call after Ambelas became trapped in the apartments searching for victims. He was found unconcious and given CPR, then rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest. He is survived by a wife and 2 children. Condolences to his family, friends and the FDNY.
