Anyone know what the rebreather unit gator will be used for? I could see it being used for things like to bring in rebreather equipment during another Sandy where the much larger rebreather trucks can't get into areas, but do they really need a gator just for that?

Lol...can't they just simplify things and decide on kenworth, international, etc & stick with that as their standard commercial chassis?

I really like the Ferrara/international trucks. They kinda look like military personnel trucks...are they for transporting manpower or for hauling supplies? Never been a fan of painted rims on any apparatus (I like the chrome Alcoa rims, personally), but I know that many of their units are like that

For the scuba/water rescue, my only complaint is the M-series on the sides...A) they're not on a bracket so they're pointed upwards slightly and B) they should have an M7 where the "intersection" vertex is

A skid-steer loader? You mean FDNY didn't have one until after Sandy happened? I thought FDNY had everything.

I'm sure they did. According to the lettering, it was donated by the Queens Borough president, so I'm sure that it's an addition and will be stationed in Queens to make sure the FDNY has a skid-steer unit out there as soon as possible the next time.

i saw this truck being built. the M6s are mounted terribly. Nothing the 15 degree mounting bracket couldn't fix. blows my mind how installers are okay with mounting things like that. The problem with 'eye-level' lighting is, they're eye level. sucks if youre working anywhere near those compartments. The Vertex are useless.

Now they only have to wait 100yrs for it to happen.

Waste of taxpayer money.

I have to agree here. Seems kind of a knee-jerk reaction to a once in a lifetime/century thing. I wonder how often it will get used otherwise.

They have more then just a skid-steer... They have them in PODs which or transported by a roll-off truck. All in all I still think they could have saved a little by just getting military surplus for the highwater evacuation vehicle...
