Federal Jetsonic, and a pair of 184s & ebay CA Aerodynic

Its really coming down outside....

So I am using the snow as an excuse to play around abit with some other recent acquisitions.

I got this Jetsonic model J along with the SVP model 202 I posted earlier. The domes are nothing to write home about, and I did plan on using this as a parts bar. Then I open it up and the interior is minty fresh. Its in better condition then my other jetsonic, I can't strip it. Doesn't have its speaker in the middle but it has something, I need to take it apart to see whats in there. Take note of the custom wooden display feet..... lol.

Also a teaser pic of 2 Federal 184s that found me. My basement is turning into a wayward home for old lightbars... lol

I have all the hardware for them, I just need shorter bolts as they mounted into the cab with long straight through bolts.

And lastly My Ebay CA Aerodynic Model 25 EAH came in. Unboxed it.

Need to test out its functions so its on the table.

Domes are shot... cracks in just about every segment, and crazing in the rear facing ambers. I can probably salvidge the name plates, red alley inserts and the clear endcaps. Maybe the metal strips... other then that gonna junk em.

I also took note that this thing has those silly mirrors that all Aero's with Alley lights had... not sure if I am gonna carry that over when I finish this.

Very nice jet would be worth investing in some really nice domes for it.

If you don't like the inner mirrors the EAHs were installed with, I'd nix them. Did that with my 24EAH NDHP Aero. Looks tons better without 'em.

I'm seriously considering it.

The Model 24s had these and they didn't bother me.

The center divider on this one is broken. I have another coming, I could just swap the mirrors, but I really think this looks stupid on the all light bars.

Federal Signal placed those mirrors on the bulkheads of Aerodynics that were equipped with alley lights. The theory was that the mirrors would reflect light towards the endcaps and around the alley lights. I'm not convinced that it was all that effective, but the alley lights effectively blocked light from the rotators, so maybe the mirrors were better than nothing at all.

Got some wiring to puzzle out on this Aero,

All functions but the rotators test out.

Alleys, front endlamps are steady burn, and there is a grote flasher that flashes the rear endlamps at the same time.

Then there is a large guage grey wire coming from under the bar, but it appears to ground out. When I trace the grey wire it looks like its going to the power wire for the rotators.

Problem is it grounds out. .... oh well there is lots of snow that needs to be shoveled maybe later.

any video from 25EAH? :)

I really dont understand why you guys always ask for videos each time a light bar is posted???? There are plenty of light bar videos on youtube already. We all know what it's going to look like............

I'd say keep it original, as it won't likely go on a vehicle. That's just my 2 cents. There aren't that many 25EAHs out there AFAIK so I'd keep them there.

Nice bar by the way! That Jetsonic is awesome too. Smart rotators?

Well I completed assembly of 1 of the Federal 184s.

Its twin brother is giving me a hassle on reassembly.

I'm probably gonna start another thread just on that light.

Here is 1 complete 184 hopefully another soon.

It almost turns my stomach to do so, but I just stripped the 5 panel domes. All the red segments were a loss, everyone had a crack in it. I was able to salvidge the amber segments, the clear endcaps, the metal strips from the tops and nameplates.

1 of the alley inserts is fine and reusable. The other split right in half when I pull it from the endcap. Snapped right at the weakest points very clean break... super glue to the rescue, and its usable again.

I'm planning on getting new domes anyway, should have them on order tomorrow.

Need to figure out this ground issue in the primary power line, this doesn't sit right with me as none of my other Aeros do this.

I got a pic of the "twins" now that both 184s are back together.

Gotta find someplace to put them..

Like Bill Cosby said about the nuns in "Mother, Jugs, and Speed" after he had chirped the siren at them as they crossed the street, "They love it! It takes the place of sex.":p
