Federal Signal Model JM Mini Bar

I recently picked up up this Federal Signal Jetstream model JM mini bar for $40 on Facebook Marketplace. It was in good shape but the outer clear dome was a bit sun faded. After a few hours of wet sanding and polishing, I think it turned out pretty good. I noticed as I was cleaning it up that the two nameplate styles on the bar were slightly different. I’m not sure which style it came from the factory with but I’m guessing someone changed one since the degree of wear on one is greater than the other. I changed the color filters from alternating to all blue on one side and all red on the other. I may try to track down a more presentable set of Jetstream name plates at some point.

Nice, my biggest issue with these is because of UV exposure baking either the gears for the rotators or the worm gears on the motors.

I lucked out on this one where the gears seem to be in pretty good shape. I noticed some Jetstream and Jetsonic bars have the matte black paint on top of the dome. I wonder if they did that to try to protect those plastic interior parts from UV rot?
