I have a vintage 100 watt speaker for my Federal Signal Interceptor PA20A that may be failing. What modern 100 watt speaker could I buy that will replace in behind my grill?

What model is your current, failing speaker? Chances are good that the driver can be replaced, or possibly even repaired.

Yeah, I'll have to get back to you on that as I don't know. It was an old junk pile find along with another that says Sireno both from late 1970s I think. . I've seen a round black driver for sale on ebay that looks similar, but I'd have to take out my grill to have a look!

Thinking outside the box . . . . . . . . Could the siren amp have issues ?
Back in the day (70's & 80's) we had more problems with the siren amps than the siren speaker
drivers.

Are you getting any sound from the speaker? A failing driver will have a much diminished output. Also, check the speaker wire connections at the PA20A. Make sure bare wires are not touching as this will kill the output. As I recall, the PA20A originally used a 58 watt siren speaker—100 watt will work too. In that model Riviera (71-73), there’s lots of real estate behind the grill. A FedSig TS100 would fit nicely.

Actually tested it again yesterday and it seems to be nearly 100% functional again!! It was sounding like a big ol pillow was stuff inside it. I think it got water inside the upside down speaker cone after the car got a pre-parade wash and detailing earlier in the week. I checked all wiring and yes it did have diminished sound. Hopefully all is well again!

If it's a PA20A series 2E (the high pitched version), any compact 100 watt 11 ohm speaker will work.

I think I would point the speaker down…actually helps project sound out by reflecting off the pavement. Also won’t hold water.
MY SPEAKER IS SIMILAR TO THIS, BUT IT IS ALREADY POINTED DOWN BEHIND THE CAR'S GRILL.1652979539167.png

So working, not working, and then working again sounds like loose connection, or water corrosion issues. Might be in your best interests to check your wiring make sure no wires are worn and shorting to frame, and the terminal connections on the speaker. If corroded clean and then reapply a water protective coating.
