I'm helping an agency rewrite their Class A uniform specs. There seems to be a variety of ways that the service stars or crosses on wore on Class Jacket coats.

I can't speak for FD (I don't think anyone on our FD has jackets), but on both PDs I'm on, service stripes go on the left sleeve. The confusing part, is how many years per stripe! One does 5yrs/stripe, the other does 3yrs/stripe!

military does left sleeve. 1 slash = 3 years

The FD I'm helping wants to do one maltese cross for every 5 years on both sleeves because another department in the area does that. I'm trying to convince these guys that they are just making the embroidery shop rich. My current FD does one for every 5, but just on the left sleeve.

My dept is a joke on class As,no consistancy. Some shoes shinney some not, no slashes, no maarks for years of service, ppl had the FD pins but most dont,no belts on people, just the gold and silver. So i cannot participate in this pole as there is "none of the above" option lol.
