I recently bought some whelen 500 smart leds for a brush truck job.  They are going to be mounted on the fenders for intersection warning.  They need to be flush mounted, but something is missing.  Can someone tell me exactly what I need to flush mount these lightheads?  They are linear super leds.

thanks, nick

Nick,

You have at least 2 options.

One is to use the plastic (or aluminum)flange kits. They allow you to install the 500s against a flat surface.

The other is to use a rubber grommet kit. You have to have a cutout or opening in the metal surface to insert the grommet into then the 500 goes into the grommet.

Northern Tool used to carry "L" brackets that accepted the grommets. I suspect they still do.

Right on Whelen's website page for the 500 series. Click on the 500 Series Linear Super LED Lighthead tab: http://www.whelen.com/auto/product.php?head_id=12&cat_id=74&prod_id=123#140 The grommet mount is down at the bottom of the list.

I think we are wanting to go with the chrome look.  The chrome bezels I have now are to shallow, and the lighthead sticks out the back.  I think I need what is in the link below, but it would be nice if you guys could confirm this for me if possible.

thanks, nick

That's looks like them but I think the linear version may be deeper because the lighthead is deeper than the TIR versions.
5LSMAC is what you need.
