Just bought this vintage foreign made vintage light similar to Whelen's vintage Clear-Ray Flasher.

Unfortunately, I think it may have to be my first wet sanding dome cleanup.

When wet sanding, do I sand up and down, side to side, or in circular motion?

Or should I just Novus it as best I can, and leave it?

Any advise is appreciated, I can't afford to ruin the dome, there is no replacement.

The way I learned to sand and finish glass, plastics, and metals was to sand in one direction, then with the next finer grit of abrasive paper or paste, sand perpendicular to the previous grit. This way, you are removing the ridges left by the previous grit abrasive.

Note: this does not apply to most woods, wood finishing is an entirely different science.

I know this light :) . It is Electra from Poland, around 60's or 70's. There's one for sale at the moment here for $75 + shipping (located in E.U.)...just in case your dome doesn't come up nicely... :)
