I was at the White House this summer and they had an older Suburban with a Galaxy on it. I was surprised considering the money that they have.

The Secret Service is not the kind of agency that has to run code 3 through downtown every day. Most of their lighting is just for show because if the president is moving, that route has typically been cleared ahead of time. Why would they waste their budget on "upgrading" satisfactory equipment that already meets their needs? Not everyone with a lightbar is a whacker like us.

And yes, disappointed with the lack of pics in this thread...

Not from this year's parade, but we saw these vehicles last inauguration. I kept looking for vehicles with that distinct Nightrider pattern this year, but guess they assigned it elsewhere.

IMO it doesn't need any at all. One of them I noticed has four LINz6's in the grille that are actually synchronized. Good sync on the majority of the vehicles in fact.

Right. Because the POTUS is:

A) a cop who needs red/blue to identify him;

B) routinely pulling people over while driving around; and

C) not escorted by a thousand vehicles already equipped with ten million LEDs.

Alright jackwagon, let me be more spacific.

I believe the the red and blue fog lights they used in 2008 was more effective then the single srobes they there using now because they put out a larger foot print from a distence. So if the POTUS vehicle has to be change route, the driver will more easily get through traffic without the secret service going kamakazie on everyone.

With that said, the president is:

(a) being driven my a federal agent

( B) inside an emergency vehicle

© At more possible risk then any other vehicle, so it needs to get through traffic faster then anyone else.

Do you honestly believe this is a scenario that will present itself? President is attacked and ABANDONED by all other SS and police vehicles and has to run code 3 ALONE through heavy urban traffic? And somehow red/blue fog lights are gonna help? Have some faith in your Secret Service because you don't seem to know much about them.

Hate to break it to you, but he's not in an emergency vehicle. He's in an armored bank vault that's mounted on a truck chassis and disguised as a super classy limousine. Because of this, plus all the gun-toting people in the black SUVs, he's safe from every attack short of a nuclear blast within a couple hundred yards.

I'm just going to leave you with this: It's is always the things that we believe will never happen, that actually come to life. History has shown us this time and time and time again. From recent events such as Katrina, 9/11 and the anthrax scare, to past events such as the assanations of 4 late presidents, the Luby massacre and pearl harbor. The unexspected will happen, so we must prepare the best we can proir to it happening.

A good way to start preparing would be to enable spell-check.
