HHS Ignition Power

I'm nearing completion of my HHS 3200 controller. I plan to run the Ignition Source Power Activation and Backlight wires directly to my battery with an in-line fuse. Is there any reason why I should use an ignition-switched wire in my vehicle instead of going directly to the battery?

It could, potentially, drain your battery if your car sat without running for a while. IMO it will look silly to have the display backlit when not running as well, but that's just my personal preference

When we hooked up a test lead, it appears that if I turn off the handheld, the backlight also turns off.

If I hook it up to an ignition-switched wire, will the lights turn off when I shut the vehicle down? Or will they continue running for the duration of the shutdown timer set in Command?

I have not personally used command, but my understanding is that they would go off with the ignition wire but the handheld would remain functional until the shutdown timer is finished.

That's the one thing I couldn't test (trying to find a laptop). That will be a factor as we don't keep our POVs on while at a post.
