Hi Guys!!!

Looking for the usual wisdom of fellow board members.+

We are installing a whelen siren on a 2005 Ford Explorer. The question is....which is the cable that i need to splice on the factory harness under the sterring wheel to connect the horn/siren wire????

Thanks for any help.

If you're tying in the horn ring circuit from a Whelen siren to your Ford, you will need to extend your horn and ring wires from the siren to the actual horn(s) under the hood. Whelen sirens horn ring circuits tie in after the horn relay, which is triggered with a 12 volt positive signal, not a ground.

To use the wire in the steering wheel column, you would need to have a siren that ties its horn ring circuit in front of the horn relay and uses a ground trigger, such as a Unitrol or Federal Signal siren.

In short, run your wires under the hood and find the horn(s) wires to cut and tie into, as per Whelens instructions.
