My dept recently got a new Pierce Ladder. Everyone on the dept wanted a a Roto-Ray on the front, except the Chief. When we bring it up to him about purchasing one and having it installed he said it would run $10,000!! So now I am wondering how much one would cost and the average cost to have it installed?

they were about $1000 (delivered, not installed) 3 years ago. I don't know the current pricing, but if you call the company, I'm sure they could tell you.

Last I looked into it... (2007???) The option was aprox $2200. There's no way it would be $10,000. There are things I'd rather spend $2000 on when building a truck...

But rotorays are so cool old school style....

We have money that we have not touched for years from funraisers. I believe the chief wants us to think it costs $10,000 hoping that we forget about the light.

I like the old school style of them as well

My "source" says it can be installed at time of manufacture for under $3000.

The truck is already built. Is it a lot of work to install one? Does it have to be reinforced inside the cab? We think the truck needs a bit more light to the front. Everyone likes the Roto Ray. I did see a video on Youtube of a Whelen product that didn't look too bad. It was all led and it mounted just above the grille. It looked kind of like a endcap to a lightbar.

It isn't a rotoray, but it is a nice option that hits intersections and front. The rotoray is a thing of it's own......
