Everyone has their little (or big) collections of their "toys", some absolutely perfect or better than perfect, others aren't as nice and we can ALL appreciate each others gems on the shelves.

BUT...How many of us have their collections actually IN SERVICE or on display on vehicles for the rest of the world to enjoy? I like to display some of my "collectibles" in their natural habitat...not taxidermy specials but just like in the zoo!

Let's get this ball rolling by displaying a few of my "toys" from over the years: I still have most but some are now "down the road", as they say...

Gentlemen! Let's see what you have!

I wonder if that Daytona Beach PD car has a PA15 or PA20 siren in it (not a PA15A or PA20A).

My first light (Whelen 5000PA) , and one of the hardest to find. I needed it for my restoration project, a 1974 Scottsdale PD bricklin. One of only three put into service back in 1975. View attachment 157790

That was you!? I had no idea the owner was a member here, I referenced that very car in another thread here. The Bricklin is one of my favorite cars! Very well done!

Can you tell by the outside? If it's the nasally-sounding unit, that's what I have in there...

Strange but light related: Do you recall what driving lights you have in the bumper of the black ranger?

Strange but light related: Do you recall what driving lights you have in the bumper of the black ranger?
Those were the little black-plastic housing buggers from a local farm-supply store. They were a pair of driving lights and a pair of driving lights that I swapped-out the wide-beam lenses, from a "fog" pair to get some spread. You know the type o lights, they either come with amber reflectors with a fog lens or a clear reflector with a clear (non-fresnelled) lens. The lower units were a pair of Bosch's. The little ones fit perfectly behind the 4 openings and smiply required a piece of 1" flat stock with the ends heated and twisted in a vice, to utilize the bumper bolts on the backside to bolt onto. 4 holes drilled in the flat stock and those lights mounted right behind the openings making for a relatively custom-looking set-up! Looking on fleabay, they are very similar to the KC 775 model. I'm guessing I may even have a set, still in the box, somewhere, that I used when kit-bashing the lenses/lights to get the light dispersion I needed. I couldn't afford the Bosch's and they didn't fit behind the openings.

I know exactly the lights you are speaking of LOL

The vintage Bosch driving lights sell for quite the pile of pennies on ebay these days! (I like 70s/80s fog/driving lights and other auto accessories, strange I know.)

No, but I could tell if I heard it. The PA15 and PA20 were manufactured from 1962 to 1966 and both have wail, yelp, and alert tones. The wail and yelp tones are very low pitched compared to the electronic sirens that are in use nowadays.

The PA15A and PA20A come in two versions: late 1960s versions with low pitched tones (series 1B, 1C, 1D and series 2B, 2C, and 2D); and the 1970s versions with high pitched tones (series 1E and 2E). The high-pitched versions are the most common and are very easy to find, but they are definitely not period correct for a 1960s emergency vehicle restoration.

I have the low-pitched unit. I don't believe there's an alert tone, just wail and yelp.

nope.. no way id put a magna in a 1970. i guess i should have been more clear, although a magna had to change its life in order for this to work, it did fit right in the shell of a fireball and i still have speed control. its another one-off. i just could not have the same light as everyone else. so the magnabean is now a magnaflash and the fireball is now a magnaball. its all very natural... i believe o_O

We had an Engine with a Twinsonic in service until 2013, it's still in service with another department but I'm told they got rid of the Twinsonic. Our 1975 Dodge Mini-Pumper has been upgraded at some point before we owned it, I'm not sure what would have come on it from the factory? Our current Tanker has a Jetsonic on it. Our Brush truck has a Mini-AeroDynic on it. We are stuck in the past.........
