WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -Jupiter Police Officer Bruce St. Laurent was killed Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle while he was riding in a motorcade as President Barack Obama was on his way to the Palm Beach County Convention Center, said Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
St. Laurent, a 20-year-veteran of the department, was about to shut down Interstate 95 by the 45 th Street exit when he was struck by a vehicle, Barbera said.
St. Laurent was rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center where he later died, Barbera said.
The accident happened around 4:45 p.m.
Barbera says the accident is under investigation.
