Hello Group,

Have a Lighting X LX4 Module failling, of the four leds sometimes 2 are off (I think when the module gets Hot Only two Leds works, the other half remains off) I know my modules are under warranty and Andy has been very helpfull offering a replacement, but since I live in Venezuela sending it again to USA and then sending back to Venezuela shipping costs would be much more expensive compared to the value of the led light.

So I know there was a post somewhere here that someone explained the simple failure of these LX4´s I remember it was regarding some loosing soldering contacts or something like that? I may open it myself and see if I can fix it I can solder the losen contacts if needed, Any experience about it?

Thanks for the Help!.

Is it a grill light? If so they are potted and there is no fixing it without ruining the light head. Also Andy does not handle Axixtech anymore but Brooking Industries will honor warranty from what I have heard.

thanks usdmet,

 :? Yeah I forgot the epoxy potted sealing thing, Well seems Andy left John Spivey and Amy Cole for Lightning X sales, warranties and so, oh well, I guess I will have to send it anyway.

Thanks for the help.

it was a post somewhere I saw that kind of explained the reason why these LX4s led sometimes stop flashing 2 of the four leds, I can´t find it here and I remember it said something about fixing this problem besides sending it to warranty (which in my case will exceed the price of the light itself)

Anyway I can see this led module comes with two screws in the rear maybe to disarm the lens and reflector and possibly have access to the card where the problem might be...

Has anybody verified if Brooking Industries warranties a Lightning X LX4? Got one that just went bad on my paid dept's brush truck.

I have been through this several times. Both with the Lightning X, and with the Sho-Me Galaxy LX4's, which (someone can correct me if I am wrong) are the same light made by the same manufacturer.

What I have been told is that it is a component problem in the control circuitry. The last couple i had fail, would work if the engine was off, as soon as you started the engine half of the LEDs would die.

We hooked them up on the bench, with an adjustable power supply. At 12 volts or slightly below, everything worked. At 12.5 or so and up, the problem would occur. My local dealer for ShoMe contacted them, and supposedly they admitted a problem that has supposedly now been corrected with an internal component breaking down at anything above 13 volts dc. They stated that eventually half the lighthead would stop working at all. I think maybe the previous failures I had were doing the same thing and I didn't notice it until they crapped out completely.

In fairness, both Lightning X (Andy) and ShoMe have been really great at promptly replacing them, I have been through SIX bad lights. And the latest ones I have, havebeen in sevice for a year now and are still working. But I do have to admit that I am leary of the overseas products' quality control.

I never tried to repair one myself due to the fact that they were under warranty, and are potted.

Per LX's website:

Lighting Warranty

All Axixtech lighting product warranties need to be sent to:

Brooking Industries Inc.

10016 NW 53rd Street

Sunrise FL 33351

888 439-1925

So, I can't find out what the old warranty is, but I'm thinking they were warrantied for five years.

Many inanimate objects just need a good old fashioned intimidating. ;) The mere threat of sending it off fixed everything!

neh, did try this already and only worked the 2 or 3 first times, then the lame led light knows I´m only threatening them... :?

back they go.
