MARS Model RB NOS in box !!!!

Ok some may have seen this on Craigslist before and I was lucky enough to grab this little gem.

Not being too familiar with MARS products I can only guess its 1950's to 1960's era given the crinkle finish on it. It has a glass amber dome and is heavy as all heck. One of the heaviest small beacons I have ever seen. I'm sure the self leveling dump bed mount bracket adds to the weight.

It came in its original box which was also in great shape considering. The box labeling and serial all match the light. It works great and looks like it just came off the assembly line.

Does anyone have any idea what it may be worth? I didn't pay a ton for it. I figure you don't find a MARS beacon in original NOS condition in the box very often so that has to add something to it

I found that ad and had to post it in the Craigslist topic. I knew someone would want that gem sitting on their shelf! Even I couldn't believe how cheap it was  !

Congaratulation.

A very rare find.

I would say that the light is from the '70s due to the fact that it has a red name plate.

The name plate was black in the '50s and '60s.

The lights with cast aluminium bases was made until late '70s or early '80s.

By the way.

I bought on Ebay for a few years back a NOS Mars RB-1 with red glass lens with black name plate.

I paid about $180 for mine, I believe.

I also bought at an other time a NOS red glass lens still with the wrapping newspaper from 1965.
