Just a quick look at a pair of MicroMan Industries 8″ MicroStarBar XP compared to a Whelen Liberty with 4-lead depopulated heads (except the center amber two) and a Sound Off Predator CHMSL.
Title/Name of item - 8″ MicroStarBar XP
Manufacturer - MicroMan Industries
Model Number - 8″ MicroStarBar XP
Link to manufacturer - MicroMan Industries
How/why you got it - Bought used from elightbars member for use on police vehicle.
Purpose/Description - Measures 8.25" W x 1.25" H x 1" D. Very bright narrow angle LED light in an aluminum housing. Great for secondary warning in small numbers or a directional primary warning light in larger numbers. Also available in a traffic adviser setup. Can be made with or without an internal flasher and for internal and external use.
How you tested it/results - Mounted to headliner and compared to existing Whelen Liberty lightbar and Sound Off Predator CHMSL slight from rear to about 70-degree off-axis.
Rating (1-10, 10 is best)
Durability - 8 (internal version)
Performance/Usefulness - 8
Innovation - 7
Appearance -9 (very low profile and slick looking)
Price - 10
Total - 8 Overall. Price is unbeatable. Brightness from a direct angle is excellent. Become less effective as the off-axis increases. Light weight and easily mountable with included adjustable brackets.
Picture(s)/video(s)
The MicroStarBars are mounted on the headliner in the rear window, so they are slightly angled outwards which can be seen when the camera starts to move and there is a direct shot of the right bar. These bars are extremely bright when viewed straight on. They lost effectiveness as the angle increases, but are not intended as a wide-angle light. They are definitely worth the money for the size and brightness.
