Motorola Command-O-Lert beacons

Picked up these Motorola RM-2-M beacons. They came attached to round mounting plates and had obviously been paired on a bar. I thought these were re-badged North American Signal lights, but I found a NA 250 dome, and it was too short to work. So now I'm wondering what make and model are these? When I got them one had a broken Stratolite 77 dome, and the other the flat-top Grote dome in the pictures. Which is correct? I like the looks of the Stratolite better.

The other question I have is about the extra electrical component attached to the bottom of one beacon. See the photo. There are power leads in and out, and one small-gauge orange lead. Is this a relay or solenoid? If you end up with two grounds and two hot leads, why not just wire them independently? I'm obviously not an electrician; the best I can do is hook up a hot and a ground to my battery charger- so please school me.

According to the information in the old thread, these are an early version (maybe from the 60's) of the North American 250. That might explain why the NA 250 dome I have won't fit.

I need a couple of stratolite 77 domes in red, blue, or clear if anyone has a source.

Anyone have a value idea for the retaining bands? I got 2 in a 'lot' of parts I bought. They're for the larger 184 sized 4 head beacons. They're functional, but one needs the connection points re-riveted on. One side is off, the other is nearly off. I don't have the right tools to put it back on, just a standard rivet tool which has the nipple sticking out the back.

This is definitely not a version of the NA 250.

The predecessor to the North American 250 was a Northern Signal Blitzer beacon. It looked exactly like the North American 250.

I believe these were marketed well before the Motorola beacons.

I'm glad you updated that. I thought I was really getting old, because my first thought was that they were N.A.s.
