dont know about their used value. But i will tell you they are a sweet radio . My dept uses the xts 1500 for fireground communications and all of the chauffeurs get xts 5000's
the battery life is great, not sure which battery packs we use if they are Li-Ion or Nickle metal Hydride I know motorola makes a bunch of battery lines for the XTS radios

Alot of the value depends on what options are included with the unit.Is it convetional only,P25 and if trunking what baud rate,3600 or 9600 ?
Its a workhorse of a radio and even used can fetch between $400-600 on the used market.
It also helps to know the firmware and flashcode.
