I was visiting friends in SoCal over Christmas and mentioned to my friend that "if he saw any of the old style square shaped lightbars to beg, borrow or plead for it". He said lets go down to the place that sells used fire equipment, he has a bunch of stuff. We went down the next day and I found a San Diego FD CTS sitting on the rack upside down. I pulled it out and saw it had its mounting feet and wire still attached, no cracks in the domes and the TS-100 was still in the speaker tray. The owner said "it's worthless to me, $50.00 and it's yours"; I paid him cash on the spot. When I got it back to my friend’s house I took the domes off to get some pictures of the inside, it's got some grime, but all the bulbs light and the motor spin. The rotator's were slow and interment at first, but came up to normal speed in about 30 seconds. I have no idea how long it has been sitting on the rack, but it's in great shape. Domes are clear and no crazing, I give them an 8 of 10; they have some scratches on the top from being slid on the storage rack.
I got it home and it's on my work bench to be cleaned up and displayed.
How do I know it's a SDFD CTS? SDFD ran one amber and one red beacon before the Calif Vehicle Code allowed white to the front, because amber was a brighter color than red.
Couple of questions, the end cap says A3, but it's stenciled like the A1 models??? And the motor has flat sides; looking on the freeweb site I'm lead to believe that's the A1 style motor???
Of course there's a vid, for the light bar porn addicts.
