Hi gals and guys,

today I want to show you my latest project:

Whelen Compact Liberty

Equipment inside:

- 4 blue LIN12 corners

- one blue LIN6 module front and rear facing and in each endcap

- 2 SXTLED Super High intensity Takedowns

- 2 LIN6 amber to the rear

The final bar will be magnet mounted.

The control setup will follow within the next weeks.

It will control the following functions:

- cruise Lights

- amber rear flashers

- steady burn Takedowns

- flashing Takedowns

- corner modules

- all additional modules

Here are some pics of the buildup and the final bar:

- cornermodules and endcap mounted

- frontmodules mounted

- all modules mounted

- modules during the setup of the flashpatterns

Tell me what you think about it. ;)

And of course a big THANK YOU! to retired1 for sending me all the needed parts. :)

It will work with a cig plug. Hardwired to the control box and then two spiral cables to the bar for power supply and functions.

I will upload a video once the control box is ready.

This way it will be better to show the functions. ;) :D

But it may take one or two weeks since I will build the box completely custom.

As it is a model 2012 Liberty frame there are no more screws from the top plate to the base.

The top plate is screwed to a "clamp" that sits on the lower frame.

You can see it here in this pic.

Just curious, wouldn't it be easier to use one cable similar to a factory Whelen one, I would think two spirals would be a pia to contend with ... :undecided:

Nice bar but I strongly recommend NOT using flashing takedowns with SXTDLEDs. I have six in my bar (4 front, 2 rear) and I tried using them but they are so overwhelming they not only completely wash out your colored warning signals, they blind oncoming traffic which has the potential to cause a collision (either with other traffic or head-on with you). These are worse than being in someone's high beams even in daytime. Your corners and center lamp ought to be plenty.

i love my SXTDLEDs and wouldnt trade them for anything! They are very bright and have paid for themselves on every night call. Yes they are bright but just two flashing to the front is fine, at night, yes they are bright but i still run them with no issues. Four of them to the front is def way over kill!

In my setup they can be switched independently.

Don't want to have them flashing in foggy conditions, etc.

But they are my second set and I love them.

Maybe I will test what they look like with a colored lens... :undecided: :D

Here are 3 more views of the piece that retains the top panel to the bottom panel. The first photo is how it is placed in the lightbar. The bottom slides into the lower extrusion and the set screws are tightened. . The top panel is placed atop the lightbar then there are two screws that screw into the top extrusion and hold the top panel to the bracket.

Sweet build. Where did you order the upper and lower frames from?

I will take the Liberty (pun intended) to answer this. He got them from me, but I have no more smooth top frames and don't expect to get any more.

I do have 3 earlier style frames, with the 4 screw top panel, available for sale. PM me for details, so as not to hijack this thread.

Thanks for the replies and pm's. :)

As I've got multiple people asking: the frame length is exactly 71 centimeters.

And yes, I will build custom sized bars if the material is provided, but please remember that I live in germany. ;) :D
