I would like to finally start a dream project.
A LACoFD Flash Platter!
In all my years of collecting, I have never seen such a Platter for sale. So I decided to make this myself.
Over the last 5 years i collect some parts for this Platter.

So that everyone knows what it is, here are a few screenshots from the TV Show Emergency.

a wonderful restored C5G Siren

and the side flashing light Do Ray P99 light

After years and years of searching i never found a base plate. So i decided to replicate the base plate.
First i made a plate of wood, so i can find out the Dimensions.
With this wood plate i go last week to a metal shop.

And today i got a call from the Metal shop.
And this is the result.

Now i'm working on the metal plate and let you know when it's finished

Like this original? P94 are the correct Do-Ray lenses..
Over the years they use different Do Ray Lights ( P94, P95, P96 ... ) So i decided for the P97 light. ( not the P99 like i wrote in my last post )
And the LAFD and LASD had so many different Flash Platter lights, so you can use so many compilations with Dietz and Do ray lights. :)

Did you sandblast those PAR46 housings and have them chromed? I've always been told not to blast them as the pitting makes it difficult to impossible the properly chrome them.

Everything looks great!

first sandblast and then grind with sandpaper. so i have a clean, smooth surface.

With metal plating, the surface prep is the key to the final finish. Polished metal ends up with a very smooth and shiny plating. A rough, media blasted surface will yield a matte finish. Unless the plating is thick, pits in the surface will be visible after plating.

I agree with stansdds, but SaschaUE's pictures prove he made it work. That chrome looks great. Chemically removing old chrome is probably a nightmare and I'm sure the EPA has made it cost-prohibitive.

If I made one I'd put a B&M S8B-S siren on it. That way it would sound closer to the siren that was dubbed in for Squad 10 in the Emergency pilot episode.
