My Unfinished Smith & Wesson 8887

As requested by JennyCop, Here are some photo's of my S&W 8887.


This started out as a Waterford, MI Police Red/Blue bar.


Domes were broken.


So I took this completely down to bare bones.


Repainted the frame, bulb holders, ect.


I replaced the wire retainers, gaskets, screws, ect.


And bought new EEC domes from a local place.


I originally bought new rotators from able2. The ones in the photo looked exactly like the old ones.


But when I got my set of 4, they were completely different.


I now have a doaner bar for the rotators. I'm also changing it up a bit. It will be red DS and Clear PS.


I know some things don't belong, like the 700 flasher and power blocks, but this project was from 8 years ago. I just wanted a working bar not factory correct.

Anyone know what the different models of these are? I had found one online and the owner told me the model number was 8980 (?).

This is a painted frame. And there are no grommets, cause the original never had them. The holes themselves are not sharp, so no worries about shorting out.

WOW! I think that is the first I have ever seen clear domes on a S & W/ EEC bar. I have had two such bars, both NOS and they had silver anodized alum frames. Kinda like Code 3 XL bars, some were painted, some were anodized. Like early twins the first gen bars in the XL lineup were black bases (sold that one, though)

Beautiful restoration!! I was never a huge fan of the S&W bars, but I gotta admit.... that is one SWEET looking unit!!
