Hey everyone,

We got a SW300 Federal Signal switch box. It is functional, but we want to rearrange it so that it has a master switch, which it does not. How do we accomplish this without purchasing a new box? Any and all assistance is as always helpful. Pics welcome

All you have to do is hook the output wire for switch one, into the power in for switches 2-6. A word of caution however, do not attempt to run a lot of load through the switch box this way. It is fine for lower amp draw items, but if you are going to be running something more amp hungry through it then get a good 50 or 75 amp relay and let switch one be the trigger to open or close the relay.

Our local SO was trying to run their Excalibur bars all through switch one on the SW300 and ended up frying all the switches. We tried to tell them but they didnt want to listen till it was to late.

The strobe lights and head light flasher should have their own power and ground wires so all you will be running through the switch box is the trigger to tell them to turn on. That and the dash king and you should be fine.

Simply have the first switch trigger a high amp relay that powers the others.

OK so the master switch redo now works. BUT i ran into a different snag...when the master switch is switched to on, it works but the back lighting shuts off?? and then the switches dont lite but the do work? tritonboulder47 did the research on the switches and they are wired correctly...so its now at the point of WTF!?

any ideas???

backlighting power should be independant of main power. maybe that wire got hooked up to #1 too?
