New York State Department of Transportation Survey/Test Vehicle

Some sort of survey or test vehicle with the state DOT. Probably used with grading roadways for routine repair or replacement. It has 2 lasers in the rear on both sides and what looks like a suspension sensor and a front Ground Penetrating Radar or surface camera.

Nice way to buck the trend of safety chevrons on the rear.

They are reflective too and vehicles like that don't usually do work on the road without two blockers with attenuators and a pickup with a message board.

NYS DOT has had those diagonal stripes for years. Maybe not as effective as chevrons but they've been doing their stripes for a lot longer than the recent chevron push.
