Now I know it has been discussed before, but I have caught both of Troop G's CITE Cars and figured I would post under one thread. If you are not familiar with CITE, Cite was an excuss by the state police to use unmarked vehicles for Patrol use in a attempt to find Cellphone drivers better. They are Tahoes in an assortment of colors and with a horrendous lighting setup if I might add... Both of these cars have similar lighting setups except for the License Plate light where one has Tir3 heads and one have Ions, and the different antenna setups for the different systems 201 uses compared to 200 that doesn't use any other systems.

They run 2 black and 1 blue out of troop L here in Nassau county but they are lit up lovely I see them everyday I will try and get some video of them

Yea, the lighting is TERRIBLE!!!! Kyle, 201 must stay North of Saratoga as I have never seen it in the Southern end of the county only once when it was at a structure fire on a very very day.

I do,like the two Amber pods and the fact that the lights aren't hidden behind 5% tint, cutting their effectiveness in half.

Dammit.... I loved it until the vid...(swallows vomitus)

Come on, even split vertex... :duh:

Who gets paid to spec this $hi(waste of that CiTetation)

So much potential is already there.... :Banghead:

"Rant Off"...

I wouldn't call it a horrendous set up. The split fail surface mounted HAW's are stupid. We'd all like some more sync, but it's good lights and seem to cover upper, mid and lower level warning.

:hopeless:

Lose the light stick and the stupid split vertex to the rear, move the slim lighters to the upper part of the hatch and put them on a slower pattern and it would look fine.

Correct. I have seen it at SP Wilton, so I'm guessing it covers the 2G area, specifically northern Saratoga.

A little about the program...

I'm sure its just me being "in the know" on such things but all I see here is stealth fail. I could spot those units a mile away, the black rims are a dead giveaway.

But, I suppose, someone texting away while driving and isn't familiar with emergency vehicles wouldn't catch on until it was too late.

Looks like the horrendous lighting setup isn't just my local CITE cars.. I thought it maybe was a troop G thing that had horrendous rear lighting--apparently not.

I have to agree with you! The only thing "undercover" about these is that they aren't marked and don't have an exterior lightbar. I mean come on, it's a Tahoe with black rims and more than one antenna. It's like rolling around in an "unmarked" CVPI, it's a CVPI, most people assume it's a cop until proven otherwise. #fail :duh:

Ditch the Vertexs, trash the LP lights, put a little tint on the windows, there ya go.

Like people can't see the grille lights on a non-painted bracket and the visor lightbar... oih

It's okay the front is equally as bad. The one near me has an interior lightbar with 6 white modules and only 2 red ones. At night you only see white to the front. :duh: :weird:

Same with G201 (the grey tahoe above). In the daylight I couldn't tell if it was blue or clear in the front lightbar. It looked terrible! :hopeless:

Yea, 200 and 201 only has 2 red lightheads in the lightbar making it virtually seem clear only.

Really?!? Surface mount vertexes? Oh, right...because dual slimlighters, a dominator, TLF, & LP lights aren't enough lol. Honestly, for "CITE" purposes, they need to go with civi rims (or at least the gray fleet rims), civi plates, & some tint to the rear to conceal the whelen circus in the back window.

I wish NYSP still used custom TLFs. I really liked custom the TLFs they had on the 00-06 gen Tahoes, & (although the current Tahoes don't have amber turn signals), I think a similar TLF that flashed the upper & lower red housings would look cool

Call me crazy but the first time I see a NYSP Tahoe, I notice the stainless TIR3 brackets in the grille. I see them even before I notice the lightbar, that's how much they stick out in a black grille. If they wanted stealth they should use more everyday colors like red, silver, etc. not black or STATE POLICE BLUE.

Actually IIRC most state Tahoes that I have seen now have criss cross taillight vertexes. Also G201 might be a slight older then current models as it has Halogen taillights and I think they have LED taillights and rear turn signals.

In the one video they are back and fourth between G201 (tahoe) and a minivan (seen with the flatlighter). When they do an enforcement detail with the minivans they really do blend in quite well.
