Hello everyone.

I have added a new piece to the collection, which is a NOS in box AMBER FIREBALL I I . I am pleased to add this piece as I have some very nice FB I I's but none that are NOS with box.

These lights/beacons were some of the last, well built rotating portable lights that FS made. I only have the one picture at this time and it is a cell camera shot, but I wanted to share.

Internals still covered in white grease from Federal Signal:

The date on the motor, May of 1987:

I have only ran it for a few seconds to ensure it functioned. I love this series of Fireball. They are not the originals, but were nice alternative to the original.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice!!! I have some NOS blue domes that will fit this if you ever want to change the color..
Thanks for the offer Charlie, but I am going to keep this one original as ordered since I have the box for it.

Thanks to all who have replied!!

This light will go be going on display with the RED and BLUE FB II's that I have, however they have the tri flash mirror with them.

It is nice to see well made FS dash lights. We had one of the earlier series in green when they came out.

I remember being very disappointed with the internal construction of the Whelen Cadet when it came out. Cheap motor, poor worm plastic gears, small magnet and the dome broke early on !

Nice, nice, nice...and NOS.   I haven't seen a Fireball II in quite some time.  I ran one in red from 1981 until 1989 on our '71 lowtop Suburban ambulance and it did a neat job.   Nice find!

Thanks, NOS is ALWAYS an added bonus. I too have one in red that I used to use as a dash/throw light(still have it). I have 3 of them, all with the tri flash mirrors. I sometimes want to put my FB 2 back in service as a throw lilght but I am worried about damage or destroying it.

I really like this series of Federal Fireball. I think the bulb/reflector assembly as a unit rotating gives a better "pop" than a reflector rotating around a fixed bulb. But that's just my opinion.

I forgot to mention that my FBII had the mirror assembly too.  This light replaced my original FB1 that I had used for several years, moving it from ambulance to ambulance.  Made the mistake of loaning it to a vollie friend and haven't seen it in over 20 years.   I eventually replaced the FBII with the strobe version.
