Pager Audio Output

I have an audio wire that has a plug on one end that goes into my pager (Minitor IV) and the other end is the kind you would find on headphones. I want to plug this end into the mic input on my laptop so I can record audio from the pager. Is there a way I can do this? What is this wire actually made for?
