A police officer was killed early Sunday morning after his motorcycle was struck by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95.
Investigators say that Police Officer Brian Lorenzo,48, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which took place at approximately 3:15 a.m. at the Cottman Avenue interchange.
Philadelphia Police say that Officer Lorenzo was a 23-year veteran of the force and is survived by a wife and three children.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Lorenzo's motorcycle was taken into custody and is currently at a local hospital awaiting charges. The driver's name has not been released, but he is described as a 48-year-old man from Levittown.
