I went to school in Philadelphia 1974-75. At the time, Philadelphia Police used an all red TwinSonic with a single blue beacon on top of the speaker housing. Can anyone tell me what model TwinSonic they used and what make and model the blue beacon was? Here's an example from copcardotcom:

I was told that at least a few of these had long shafts the went all the way to the chain area and was driven by the chain. We had a TS for our 1 Civil Defense rig that had a TS with holes in the siren cage and that was the expilnation

How about that? While I can't recall the particulars of the twinsonic, they were installed by Havis Shields in Willow Grove, PA. I was in the Navy up there, and was working part time in their starter shop on Old York Road. They had just become a Whelen dealer, and we built a sweet El Camino with Whelen products on it. They had the contract to build Philly police cars, and expanded out to a garage on Davisville Road, up the street from the fire company. I must have installed 50-100 lightbars, and sirens. As I recall, the rotator was a Sireno, and it had a motor on the base.

I'm not sure that running a shaft down to the chain is/was feasible. Would have been interesting if someone could have pulled that off.
