The Lada Niva is an amazing little car. It totally embodies the Russian design principles of 'keep it simple, stupid' and 'if it works, don't fix it' - the design is virtually unchanged from when it first came out in 1977. It has no creature comforts or bells and whistles, but it absolutely gives you the most off-road 'bang for the buck'.

Here's a video of what the Niva can do. (Ignore the goofy music.)

_ What's the difference between a Jehovah's Witness and a Lada?

You can shut the door on a Jehovah's Witness.

_ From a newspaper: "To the person who stole my Lada in minus 10 degrees of frost. Keep the Lada, but please tell me how the hell you started it!"

_ There is a big competition at my local pub

First prize is a Lada,

Second prize is two Ladas.

_ How do you double the value of a Lada?

Fill the tank.

_ Why do Ladas have heated rear windows?

To keep your hands warm whilst pushing them.

And it goes on and on.... :)
