Today i saw a red arrow stick in use.... I am in the Sacramento, Ca. area. At first I thought in the rain my eyes were playing tricks on me. I was stopped next to the car for a second. I did a dbl take and sure enough it was a RED arrow with blue ends. another unit was next to it and had an amber arrow with blue ends. The red stood out alot better actually..Of course i didnt have my camera or camera phone with me.

Red and blue arrows on Dallas pd libertys. I have seen red arrows on mx bars, and stand alone code 3 and fed Sig sticks. I think either Oklahoma it Kansas in the mid 90's. Very rare though.

The UK does not allow amber warning lights visible to the rear of emergency vehicles, only blue or red, so any arrow sticks there are probably red. I guess their theory is that since vehicles' red taillights indicate the rear of the vehicle, and amber would conflict with it improperly or something like that... Similarly, they allow blue and amber to the front, but not red. (Blue is their typical "emergency color" so red or amber warning lights are always secondary)

Forsyth County Fire Department in GA runs 8 head Whelen Tir6 all red arrow stiks on the rear of their engines. It get's your attention better than the mini freedoms on the hose bed.

I've never seen one of those around here. Was it a marked unit or an unmarked? Color? Side Markings? Anything like that? I'm familiar with most local public agencies' vehicles; maybe one of the school departments or 'specials' like RT?

I had an amber Arrowstik with blue ends in my MX back when I worked for one of the Placer County PD's, but my auto tech kit-bashed it for me custom...no one else had it.

The Ontario Provincial Police spec'd red traffic advisors due to the move over laws in Ontario. They had amber halogen traffic advisors, and when trying to charge people under the move over laws, they were using the defense of being unable to see the red lights due to the overpowering amber, especially at night.

Same here. I have seen older CHP cars with the Cuda Trioptic amber arrows with separate blue Trioptic packs mounted above the ends. But that's the closest thing (maybe it looked red through tint?).

Also, was it a lightbar arrowstick, external stand-alone arrowstick, or internal?

Is this really new? Are you talking about rear-deck mounted arrows? I haven't noticed this yet. Interesting.
