Replacement oscilaser workings

So I am posting here as the halogen Code3 oscilaser is pretty much "old stock" nowadays.

I have just been sent 4 replacement inner modules and of these 3 have a flat tab at the top of the rotator mirror that fit into the bumper mount housing. One has a tab at about 60 degrees. Anyone know why this would be.? Is it a different part maybe for lightbars than for the bumper mount.

Its not an issue as its going into a lightbar but curiosity got the better of me!

They use the lower module lamps from the MX. They are glare shields to stop the light from illuminating the upper sections/domes when they stopped using the louvers.

Thanks John and JDH

Have to say it is rather fun getting them going again and in a M pattern. We havent used them for years and I found a cheap (ish) US based stockist as well as Britax over here to get me the replacement parts.

I always thought that those tabs were heat shields to help keep direct heat from the bulbs from melting the top of the lens/dome.
You could be right with that as well

Correct. Heat sink/shield

They are often bent up in larger bars, down in lower ceiling mounting locations.
