I have a Code 3 550 beacon whose reflector finsh is messed up. Does anyone know of a way to make it nice and shiny again? It looks like the finish is cooked away, down to bare metal in the center and gradually getting better as you get to the outside of the reflector.

Thanks for your input

There is a product on the modeling market (for model trains, cars, etc.)

It is an adhesive backed shiny foil that conforms to any and all irregular or plain surfaces.

I have never used it, but the reviews are great.

I can't recall the name, but a google search of hobby materials should turn it up.

Bare Metal Foil is what it is called. I used to use it when I did modelling for all chrome trim. Might be kinda expensive and is very thin to work such a large surface. However, it may wind up being a good solution.

Why not just have it rechromed? A 4" reflector should not cost more than $20. here.

Right, but a new beacon is about the same....

I'd be concerned about the heat from the bulb causing the adhesive to let go on the Bare Metal Foil.
