Restoring domes

I have 2 Whelen clear strobe domes that are yellowed and faded, is there anyway possible to get these back to new like condition? I’m thinking wet sanding would be hard to do on these,anything that they could soak in or something along the lines of that or are they junk now?

Good luck. I do each flute using elbow grease....or look for new domes. These can get pretty bad. I'll look for 2 for you.

I ran out of elbow grease lol, these ones have a flat top unlike the other ones that have the raised center

If it's Whelen, they will fit.

How bad are they? Can you try some cutting compound, rubbing compound with a polishing wheel. This should allow you to get most of the yellowing out, if not all of it.

Wheel is a good idea, but be prepared for the wheel to take the sharp shape off of the flues. I'd try it on a junk dome first.

Ok thanks , they are not horribly faded and yellowed so I’ll give it a try,won’t be the end of the world if they don’t turn out good.
