Hey guys and gals,

for the install in my pov I'm searching for compact slide switch boxes.

Ideally without any additional switches/ rockers/ etc.

Does something like that exist?

Unitrol had one I will look at the Engine that has one by me and get the model # for you. It was a slide switch and a single rocker switch.

You mean something like this?

OP, I have a feeling I'm going to want to try something similar to you someday if my SS2000 ever dies. Mount a stand alone slide switch in the center console to control lighting, and right next to it a knob for a siren. Maybe a master on/off switch for the whole deal hidden somewhere.

So, you could probably just take the slide switch out of a box like above and mount it to your liking.

Guys, I have rigged an exact system like this for use in my next install, however, I am heading in a different direction now so I may not use it afterall. I took the slide switch out of an old Signalmaster box, soldered on a 4 wire trailer wiring harness, one lead for power then the other three leads to the switch position contacts to get the 3 position switching (this made the slide and wiring a "plug and play" type of thing). I rigged up a set of three relays with 1 amp diodes soldered across the 85 trigger poles so the power will flow to each relay from the previous one giving you the progressive switching that you would have with a normal slide switch while not feeding the coils from the opposite direction. The relays and diodes are necessary because the contacts on the slide switch are only activated in a singular fashion when the slide is clicked into each position. It's really simple to do, it just takes a little time and soldering. I have to give credit where it's due though. Sean Barr, aka EVModules, helped me figure out the relay/diode thing. I can draw out the idea and post it if y'all are serious about giving it a shot.

Yes thats the same one we have in our Engine but ours has the single switch not the dual you have. Its been in service since 1989 when the truck was purchased and never had a problem

There were eight versions of the single rocker switch available in the original Dunbar-Nunn Unitrol 330 plus there were also at least ten versions available of the split rocker model. From what I can determine, it looks like they added more functionality to the rockers later on.

That little switch and the 800 siren/switch unit that followed were some of the neatest switch systems available to upfitters at the time. They were very, very reliable, and easy to repair if a problem developed.
