This is the department I volunteer for. Figured I'd post some pics of some patrol cars.

Only department in CA, with silver patrol cars (That I am aware of).

All pretty basic setups.

I think the "Service" part is stupid.... But if the Chief wants it then whatever, lol. I don't think I have ever seen "Service" on a police car before, the only time I do is on Security like vehicles...

South Africa has a police service. They also have one of the highest numbers of officers killed in the line of duty.

You may also have heard about the Metropolitan Police Service - you know, of Scotland Yard fame - one of the oldest police forces in the world.

Good looking cars, a department near me also uses silver cars and I think they look nice. Also, no offence to your department or town but every time I read the car or title to this thread I read it as "Cestpool", not sure why my brain is makin me read it that way, lol.

You may be, I'm not.

What I'm saying is: don't knock an agency just because of its name.

San Fransisco used Police services back in the 70's when they had the powder blue and white cars. They had small city seals on the door and the words Police Services around it. They felt is less agressive.. Right.. Its the touchy feeley happy happy police.

It would be more interesting to try to find a police agency in Canada that doesn't have it in their name, besides the RCMP, and OPP, oh, and anything Quebec, because they are, well, Quebec.

Sometimes tasing the person you are serving is serving them....that said......

This is a pointless debate about the implications of an ambiguous term....this is not the place for this obtuse semi-political debate. ......

Enjoy the pretty pictures of the police cars.. discuss the installs... if you want to spar about the implications of naming police services and the relation to their philosophy of operation...and how that philosophy relates to officer safety... take it to the lounge.

Actually they do as well, albeit "en Français" !! Such as SPVM : Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal.

Dunno, "service" sounds better in English somewhat...

Or "Toronto Metro".... ;)

One of the local departments around where i live, changed "animal control" and "code enforcement" to reflect public perception that they are there to not just enforce but is a department to help the public become in compliance when out of compliance.

They change to "Animal Safety" and "Code Compliance"

Nice to see a car with a cop-lite steady burn.
