Is there a way to test a siren output ( with a meter) rather than swap out the speaker to trouble shoot? I have a friend with a carson remote mount that quit today but the brain is working correctly.

stick the wires to your tongue.

Just unhook the wires from the speaker and use your multimeter leads on the wires that go to the speaker from the siren to check it out...get a reading with the siren off..should be zero..then see if it changes for + or neg values...if it goes negative that just means you either have the leads reversed(no biggie) or there is a negative voltage that powers the speaker..if no change bad siren or siren component if it does change...bad speaker (contact me i will sell ya new one with 2 year warranty for 98 bucks..lol)

First off speakers use ac voltage, so you are not going to see a positive/negative change. Second it does not matter how you hook the leads from the siren to the speaker.

A tip from an old pro for a quick check. Damp your fingers and touch the wires independently. On a humid day, go direct.
