SoundOff Signal

I think that one of the reasons I have so many complaints is that I am a small shop, unable to afford much stock and order items for specific jobs. So when I order four lights and one is bad out of the box(which happened a couple weeks ago) I am screwed. I work weekends and evenings when everyone else closed so when this happens the whole job is on hold. On the same token, I think my ratio of failures to product purchased is very high. I do believe that my location is especially tough on the lights and speakers, but this is certainly no fault of mine, and should be taken into account when producing the product.

After posting this I have been contacted by a couple people that I haven't heard from in months, basically just to tell me how posting this was unprofessional and I'm an @$$hole for it. I installed everything per SOS instructions, and the product then failed, over and over again. I complained about it over and over, and I was ignored and then I was dropped. I walked away from a direct relationship from them and continued to sell the product, albeit less than previously, but I do like the product. The bottom line is, I had a lot of issues and they didnt want to hear it, but now I post it online and I'm the bad guy. My contact info hasn't changed in years, they could have called, written, emailed, or even texted my cellphone, but they didn't.

I appreciate everyone's input and opinions on this. Now I'm considering just deleting the thread. Not because I give a crap about SOS, but because I'm a good installer and I don't want people here to think less of me because of this thread.

Actually, I think MORE of you for speaking up instead of sitting back and taking it from them. If I was a small shop, I would drop them like a hot rock and ween my customers in to something different (Code 3, Whelen, whatever). Additionally, I would get your customers to write to SOS about the good quality of your work and the poor craftsmenship of their product and make sure to copy you on it. I think if they hear about it from end-users it may light a fire under their ass. I hate asshats like your supplier..and doing business over text? Maybe he needs another business course.

My buddy is having problems with SOS right now too. He had a light blow up. I literally mean blow up. It worked properly for a year and then he noticed 1 LED go out, then 3, and then pop! He looked at it and the glass lens had exploded. They're giving him the run around now about fixing it under warranty. IMO that sounds like a failure that should be covered under warranty. I have always had good luck with SOS, but I was surprised when he told me about it and showed me the light.

Wow this is just crazy. Not too long ago I began to use SOS on my personal vehicle and I do like the product. This is the way I feel about some whelen products, not all but some just don't function properly. Granted all manufactures have these issues here and then but to this extent is just crazy.

I just wanted to make few comments on this subject. The first being I personally think Sound Off is one of the better companies we deal with. Good quality products, customer service is great, and we see very very few returns and when we do they take care of them no questions asked. All companies will have failures which is why they offer warranties and I think I can count on one hand the number of times a warranty was denied by one company or another and in all those cases it was just.

John is seeing more Sound Off issues as he uses more of their products than any others.

I know John and and know he's frustrated with Sound Off right now and a month or two ago I personally offered to take all his warranty items back and get what was under warranty replaced. So in Sound Offs defense they can't warranty something if its not sent back.

John does great work and I know how frustrating it can be to get called back for something thats beyond your control. Lets face it, driving an hour or two each way to cover a warranty issue sucks but it comes with the job and keeping the customer happy.

I guess my point is that guys on this forum should not judge Sound Off based on one persons issue. If you really want to know what type of company they are buy their products and you be the judge. Be Safe, Louis

I agree with Louis. I had issues, you may not. Ryan Dodd is having excellent luck with them.

I'm very glad to have found this! I have SOS uc's mounted on my step rails on my 2012 tahoe. They havent been there long and I hope I dont have any failure. So far so good. I also have some light heads mounted on the rear license plate area. Like I have stated they havent been there long so I'm hoping for the best. We will see what happends. I was thinking about putting a SOS ultralite on my push bumper but now im wondering if I should go another route. I have been really impressed with SOS's qualitly so far, very sorry to hear this.
