I am looking for pics or ideas on home made rear storage ideas for gear in the back of a suv. I am interested to see if anyone has any ideas or input! Thanks!

Depending on how much room you have, I like the Rubbermaid Action Packers I have several of these in different sizes setup depending on the contents and need. I have an Astro Van so there is a ton of room in the back since I eliminated the rear passenger seat long ago.

One is setup with all of the items I may need when we get a SAR call, and another one is setup with raingear, boots, towels, etc. The nice thing is that if the raingear gets used, all of the wet gear can go back in the container for transport home without making a mess in the vehicle. I also have one that is setup with all of the fluids, basic tools and breakdown stuff for roadtrips that stays in the vehicle 24/7. These come in varying sizes. Best price I have seen on them is at Wal-Mart, although sometimes Big Lots gets them at a decent price. When not needed, they stack nicely in the garage and I can just grab and go as needed.

The Action Packer can be padlocked, and if you wanted to get creative, you could bolt it into the vehicle if you are worried about it being stolen out of the vehicle. If bolted in securely, someone would need a pretty beefy tool to cut through it to get to the contents.

+1 on the Action Packer, I use one in my Grand Cherokee, more than enuff room to keep smaller items in decent order. I keep my flares turbo flares first aid kit extra clothes, gloves, water bottles and gear in it and still have plenty of room. Easy enough to remove and set on the ground or move to back seat, to get it out of way.

This is Rescue One, built on a 2001 Ford Expedition XLT SUV. We built this unit for industrial EMS primarily. The storage box on the right has a center divider to keep rear-stowed equipment from sliding forward. On the front of it (behind the attendant seat) there are upper shelves to hold all the gloves, bandages, IV, medications etc that the medic might need during transport as well as Entonox and O2 tanks mounted for easy access behind the attendant seat.

The deck below the basket/board can flip backwards to allow for 3 seated passengers in the mid row. Both the storage box and the deck are bolted together and secured to the floor utilizing the factory 3rd row seat mounts. The same mounts also secure the patient so we could roll this unit and nothing would budge.

Please excuse the "incomplete" look. These pics were taken as we were building it.

thats a pretty slick setup, working with what you have. If you can get more pic's i'd like to see the attendant area setup.
