Anyone know if the Unitrol 80K amp's yelp override can be modified from 5-second to momentary or tap II?

Not directly. However, you can tap into the control line and directly access the lead for YELP. You will get yelp as long as you supply 12V+ so you can put in a switch.

If you want to replace the 5-second intersection override feature with momentary-only, you can modify the control head or use a relay to put 12V+ on the YELP lead when you hit the horn ring.

I'm aware of the 12v+ yelp input wire, but I still want to retain the 180k 3 position toggle switch function of off(vehicle horn)/horn ring siren/siren on, basically substituting a momentary yelp for the 5-second yelp.

Is there a diode or resister that creates the 5-second yelp that could be cut to make it momentary?

You mean instead of pushing the horn ring in the #2 position which currently gives you a timed yelp output, you want it set for instant on & off like a momentary push button for the yelp?

At the same time, retain the manual coasting of the siren in position #1?

Just to be clear- the 3 position 180K switch functions as follows:

pos-1: off, normal vehicle horn

pos-2: horn ring transfer, manual Wail

pos-3: Wail, horn ring activates 5-second Yelp override

Ideally, I just want to change the pos-3 5-second Yelp override to momentary Yelp, but I'd settle for horn ring Yelp in pos-2 too if I could retain the vehicle horn in pos-1.

In that case, easy fix. You'd need a relay to reroute the signals to give you manual in Position #1 and instant yelp in Position #2.

You're confusing me.

Position 1 is OFF/Vehicle HORN,

Position 2 is HORN RING transfer manual WAIL

position 3 is SIREN on/HORN RING 5-second YELP

Are you saying I can wire Position 3's HORN RING output to be the YELP input via a relay instead of the factory wire diagram? Please advise relay type and wiring instructions!

Ignore switch terminals 7, 8, 9. The horn ring connections are moved to the relay.

Keep in mind, while the 80K can take either positive or negative horn ring connections, this method requires the use of positive side to operate correctly. If you must use negative, you'd need to use an additional relay to inverse the signals.

OK, I'm assuming what you drew is the pin orientation of 2 12v relays, if so I really appreciate your help. If not, please explain further!
